Nadigar Sangam has been conducting a week long drama festival, which concluded with Vetri, Vetri, Vetri on Sunday (Aug 23).
The drama featured Nadigar Sangam chief Sarath Kumar and Secretary Radha Ravi.
Superstar Rajinikanth was the chief guest at the concluding day of the function and also distributed mementoes to yesteryear actresses M N Rajyam and Anjali Devi.
Rajinikanth went nostalgic in his speech and said; “Theatre will never die. I started my career on stage and have done over 25 plays in Bangalore. When my friends saw my performance on stage, they encouraged me to act in Tamil films which made me come to Chennai and join the Film Institute”.
Rajinikanth also made a suggestion to Sarath : “ The Nadigar Sangam has got 18 grounds in the heart of Chennai here in T.Nagar. We should utilize the vacant space inside its premises by constructing a state-of-the-art auditorium. And we can always ask Kalaignar (chief minister Karunanidhi) for help if required”
