Gulzar to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Sampooran Singh Kalra popularly known by his pen name Gulzar - the eminent lyricist has being conferred with the most prestigious Indian award in cinema - Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Having a career spanning around 50 years Gulzar has an Oscar and Grammy (for Jai Ho lyrics), 20 Film Fare Awards and many National Awards for his distinguish work as a lyricist, dialogue writer, screen play writer as well as a director.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award is given for life time contribution in excellence in cinema since 1969.
Gulzar Sahab - the way he used Chaand (Moon) in his writings became source of motivation for many writers of today people like Prasoon Joshi swear by Gulzar for his magnificent use of 'Chaand' in songs. 'Chaand chura ke laya hu' is one example. Gulzaar penned gems like 'Tum AA Gaye Ho, Tujh Se Naraz Nahi Zindagi, 'Tum Pukar Lo, 'Aane wala pal jaane wala hai',.
Gulzar is also bestowed with the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan in 2004.
